Thursday, June 15 and Friday, June 16 were delayed starts. This meant there were no specials on either of these days. Summer vacation began after June 16.

Wednesday, June 14, 2017
Fifth grade:

  • Finished editing their Google Slide projects
  • Sharpened spreadsheet reading skills playing Battleship on Excel
  • Earned Dojo points
  • Enjoyed a few minutes of free time with Dojo points earned

    Fourth grade:

    • Finished editing their Google Slide project
    • Sharpened their typing skills by going on to Typing.com
    • Earned Dojo points.
    • Enjoyed a few minutes of free time with Dojo points earned

    Fifth grade:

    • Tested their engineering projects with weights.
    • They put their videos on their Google Sheets presentations
    • They worked to submit their assignments
    Fourth grade:

    • Averaged their timed trials
    • They deleted slides, edited their presentations, and submitted their work
    • They earned Dojo points

    Mrs. V was gone but the substitute teacher had students play Battleship, using their knowledge of spreadsheets.

    Fifth grade:

    • Worked with finishing engineering and taking turns testing for weight sustainability
    • We worked right through our free time!
    Fourth grade:

    • Didn't meet as they were gone to MCC for the end of the year.

    Fifth grade:

    • A lot of serious work was done today, engineering bridges.
    • Collaboration about what would work and won't work was done
    • Standards were amended to include:
      • 33 straws
      • fish line INSTEAD of string

    Fourth grade:

    • didn't meet as they were on a field trip

    • Explored pre-approved web pages for free time with earned Dojo points
    Fourth grade:
    • Students remaining at school during fourth grade field trip played battleship with their understanding of spreadsheets

    • Reviewed understanding of spreadsheets
    • Using this understanding, they used Google Sheets to play: Battleship with their peers
    • Then they moved onto creating standards for their bridge building
    • Earned Dojo points

    • Using this understanding, they used Google Sheets to play: Battleship with their peers

    1. Opened their accounts on Typing.com
    2. Goal for Fifth grade is 20 words per minute
    3. Goal for Fourth grade is 10 words per minute
    4. Earned Dojo points.
    5. Spent their Dojo points on Free time for the last few minutes of class.

    Fifth grade:

    • We did the final edit on our Google Slides project
    • We had to meet these requirements
    1. All EIGHT slides are there.
    2. All sentences start with upper case and end with a period.
    3. All sentences are complete thoughts.
    4. You have your video on the presentation and is resized and placed approriately on a slide.
    5. You have a labeled drawing of your box car.
    6. You have animations and transitions on your presentation.
    7. Your name is on the Title slide and starts with an upper case letter.
    8. You have commented on a peer's presentation.
    9. You have copied the URL and submitted it as an assignment.
    10. You met all the goals for implementation (on slide 6 of the original)
    Fourth grade:
    • Spent some time on typing.com
    • Timed our fidget spinners
    • When we finished recording spinner data, we went Free time
