February 28:
Fourth and Fifth grade brainstormed about what they interpret as:

  • True
  • Helpful 
  • Inspiring?
  • Necessary?
  • Kind?
Then they posted their thoughts on a Google Drawing.

February 27
Fourth and Fifth grade reviewed what it means to T.H.I.N.K. before we post things.
We also began Glogster accounts to post our thoughts about what it means to do this.

Fifth grade:

  • Worked on Keyboarding Without Tears
  • Caught up on late work
  • Earned Dojo points
  • Enjoyed a few minutes of earned free-time
Fourth grade:

  • Chromebooks were unable to get online, so we read: Henry's Freedom Box
  • Discussed Slavery (as this is Black History Month)
  • We did a whole class Google Search about Henry "Box" Brown, and watched a short video
  • We earned Dojo points
  • Enjoyed a few minutes of earned free-time


February 16, 2017
Fifth grade:

  • We learned about Ledger Lines
  • We reviewed note and rest value
  • We earned Dojo points
  • We enjoyed free time on pre approved web sites.
Fourth grade:

  • We notated our Ledger notes on a DocHub document
  • We demonstrated our learning of note values as a class when we played:http://www.musictechteacher.com/music_quizzes/cg_quiz_penalty_shoot_add_it_up_rhythms.htm
  • We earned Dojo points and enjoyed a few minutes of free time, on pre approved web sites.

Fourth and Fifth:

  • Mid-marking period quiz on their Treble Clef knowledge
  • Documented their understanding of Treble Clef with:
    • drawing Treble Clef
    • notating notes

We began our practice of keyboarding on Keyboarding Without Tears.

Fifth grade:
We worked on reading Treble Clef notes. Then we earned enough Dojo points (by earning hearts) that we spent our remaining time on pre-approved URL's.
Fourth grade:
By folding their papers, they were able to demonstrate their understanding of whole, half, quarter, and eighth notes.
They earned Dojo points for their attention to instruction.

February 7, 2017
Fourth and Fifth grade:
They worked on notating their notes on Treble Clef.

February 6, 2017
Fifth grade:

They viewed a movie about perspective,
They worked on notating their lines and spaces of Treble Clef.
They took a one-minute timing to see how far they could get in one minute.
They earned Dojo points for free time.

Fourth grade:
Earned a Dojo point party.




February 3, 2017
Fifth grade:
They opened a Music Theory Workbook in dochub.com. They were able to edit this document, and demonstrate their understanding of lines in the Treble Clef.
They earned enough Dojo points to have free time for the last few minutes of class.
Fourth grade:
They also worked on a Music Theory Workbook, and their Dojo points added up to meet their goal. They'll have a Dojo party on Monday.

February 2, 2017
Fifth grade:
After reaching their goal of 250 Dojo points, students earned 40 minutes to:

  • visit pre-approved web sites
  • use their devices with school appropriate applications
Fifth grade determined to have 500 points for their next Dojo party.


February 1, 2017
Fifth grade played Music Candyland, where we reviewed Treble Clef notes. We earned enough Dojo points to have a party tomorrow!😀
Fourth grade played Music Candyland, where they too reviewed Treble Clef notes. They continued to work on Dojo points, towards a Party Day (where we visit pre-approved web sites).
